November 4, Thursday

Mental endurance comes with the Word in my mind:  Retemorize!!

Block change was today and tonight we saw the “block slide show.”  It’s been a real one.  Let me see how much I can recall:

~Arrived Tuesday, September 7, and registered.  My heart thrilled with excitement that I had made it here.  I walked in Kenyon Hall and while walking out I read the signs, “Ask God”….”First thought.”  I was home.
Upon arrival I met my Twig Coordinator, Nancy K.; my Branch Coordinator, Dave S.; and my Area Coordinator, Rappy P.  I received a pink card with all my information.  My job assignment was ‘Housekeeping.’  Well, I thought, that was o.k. but wasn’t what I really wanted.  But I learned from it, I’m sure.  I learned to pray for toilets,  to do things right, to think, to take the authority because I have an invested right, to love my buildings, and to be proud of my job…no matter what it is.
That Tuesday night was opening night.

~ Our first and only class was PFAL (Foundational) where we vividly got to see the hearts of our Corps Coordinators.

~Other stuff:
Twelve-minute test
Work Appreciation Day
Introduction of Staff
Get acquainted with home night (our room was a country saloon)
Fortieth Anniversary Week where I worked Bless Patrol on 12-hour shifts
The Staff Follies
I was a Guest Buddy
I had my interview with Dave B.
Craig came twice
Three groups of L.E.A.D. went out
L.E.A.D. 104 had an accident
Body, Soul, and Spirit Week
Parent’s Weekend where I got to work in the Floral Department
Dean Don came once
I got to clean the President’s Office in Wierwille Building
I ran 6 miles one time
The 11th Corps put on a folly for the 13th Corps called “Saturday Night Alive”
We saw and heard “A Day in the Life of the Wierwilles”
Christian Communication with practice/instruction in learning names, sharing a childhood incident and an incident where I learned something
Ambassador and Fire Place Room set up and ushering
Mealtime Bless Patrol
Voting for Kansas Governor
Worked in the Dishroom
$200.00 tuition was given to every in-resident Corps
And on and on and on

And now it has come to an end. I’m thankful to be here. My life is becoming full; I must believe that.

I’m recognizing that my righteousness and my worthiness in Christ is coming alive. As the flower blooms and opens it petals and is drawn toward the sun, it begins to radiate. Such is my life. I go not unnoticed and the Lord God is preparing my life for great things.

My job this next block is Dining Room Set-up. I’m not real thrilled about it, but I’ll do it with all my heart. I want a job where I can be around a lot of leadership. I want a job where I am challenged to lead others and can be hollered at for mistakes, a job I can stick my teeth into and recognize that it has got to be God.

I love you God. I’m going bye-bye now. xxoo

October 19, Tuesday
Dear Diary and Dear God,

It seems lately there has been too much to do.  In my early morning hours, I am missing prayer and study.
Today we had class; David B. taught on The Fall.  Tonight Dorothy Owens taught on Christian Etiquette.

L.E.A.D wrecked today.  In God we trust.

October 20, Wednesday
This morning I had work.  I learned that I am the one to take oversight in my area of responsibility.

God I love you, but it feels like too much is happening too fast.  I demand time for prayer, study, and peace.

I love you. It was Corps night.

October 21. Thursday
Today I have PFAL class in the morning; LD is tonight; I work this afternoon.

My theme for the day is “life reigns through righteousness.”  Really it should be that grace reigns in my life through righteousness.

I’m in PFAL Class now.  Doctor is covering “standing and state.”  It is so big, that it is hard for me to fathom it.  If I only work it again and again.

Things are definitely fast around here and I think I will write some goals.

This first block my job is Housekeeping. I’m blessed about having the opportunity to serve in this capacity, to take care of God’s house, His School of the Prophets. It feels like a steward of the house – the bottom level of what Joseph had with pharaoh. My work coordinator is Hugh. My trainer and immediate coordinator is Pam who worked Housekeeping at HQ her apprentice year. She shared a great record behind that:

She wanted to serve at HQ her apprentice year. The reason? To learn the heart of The Way International. She wrote a letter to Craig Martindale. I mean Howard Allen (Craig will be here Monday and I need to write him a letter) explaining her heart. Well Howard said come on and of course Pam responded. Her job to learn the heart behind this great Ministry? …Housekeeping.

What better job to learn it by? A person works hard, physically and mentally on that job. They are serving. They make sure the physical details are right and best so that there are no distractions in learning. They are depended on and if they slough off their responsibility, people notice and people are not blessed. It affects everyone on campus. We clean leaders’ rooms (we are all leaders so I should say the instructors’ rooms), the coordinators’ rooms, and our peers’ rooms. We are “behind the scenes” making sure people are blessed in day-by-day living so that they can receive the most spiritually and mentally. I’m excited about housekeeping.

My Twig consists of 7 wonderful people: Nancy, John, Roy (all three 11th Corps), Perry, Barbi, Richard, and me (all 13th Corps). We are in Branch D (Dave), Area 2 (Rappy & Bonnie), in Unit 1. I go to Leadership Development (L.D.) in the morning and work in the afternoon.

This morning was the 12-minute test in which I did 5 laps, 0 pull-ups, 24 men’s push-ups, and 58 sit-ups. There is a dance tonight and then Bless Patrol at 10:30 pm. God bless!

First Block Goals

My job in Housekeeping:
1. Learn to overcome laziness and work my mind while working (yes)
2. Learn the correlation between work and rest (yes)
3. Learn to discipline my life and be committed to do first thought whether I feel like it or not (yes)

Fitness for Living:
1. Lose my flab, especially in my arms (no)
2. Overcome my asthma (no)
3. Maintain good posture (no)
4. Overcome fatigue (yes)

Have the confidence by the end of the year to meet with the mayor or governor and expect to meet each of them.
